Channeline

The main idea behind Channeline products is building a panel section with a wall that is very thin — but amazingly rigid and sturdy. The product differs in a number of fundamental and significant ways from traditional GRP hand or filament-woven pipework.

  • The typical construction method for GRP pipework involves winding layers of sand-impregnated, resin-saturated glass to provide rigidity to the pipe. However, Channeline uses a different technique to achieve its strength and stiffness, utilizing the mechanics of sandwich panel design and a special polymer and aggregate core.
  • A high-grade surface veil that has been precisely impregnated with isophthalic or vinyl ester resin is used to create the inner sandwich structure, which includes a 1.5 mm (0.06 inch) corrosion barrier on the inside surface.
  • This is followed by several layers of thoroughly-impregnated, multi-axial engineered fabric and CSM to create the inner sandwich skin.
  •  The central core is made up of precisely-metered volumes of silica and resin that are mixed in advance, pre-batched, and applied uniformly to the necessary thickness.
  • The outer sandwich skin is subsequently created by layering multiaxial fabric, CSM, and resin several more times.
  • To improve adherence to the annular grout used during installation, the outer surface is next treated with bonded graded aggregate.

The sandwich construction process is continuous, meticulously managed, and monitored to ensure superior layer bonding at all times.
